This “Shabby Chic Birds” baby shower was designed by Wendy Larrauri of Moments by WL. Wendy used a bird theme to symbolize birth and to celebrate bringing a new life into the world, all with an arts and crafts inspired look.
By using rustic materials like painted wood and twine Wendy evokes the atmosphere of a doll’s house, with a soft and bright color palette of teal, canary yellow and baby pink. Birdcages made from wire, wrapped in twine and decorated with handmade ribbons hang from the ceiling. Just like a doll’s house, Wendy’s baby shower is all about many little details coming together to create something beautiful.
Vintage wooden furniture gives a whimsical feel to the event, and cake stands laden with brightly colored foods make an elegant and decadent statement. At Wendy’s bird themed baby shower everything is bite-size, from the miniature French macaroons to the chocolate cream cakes.
Of course, all of this wouldn’t be happening if it weren’t for the child being celebrated, so place mats with the name Anabella are placed in front of each guest and the letter A adorns the cake and signs around the room. On each place mat is a bar of bird’s nest shaped scented soap for the guests to take home, so they’ll be taking with them a memento that will remind them of the party for weeks.
If guests are feeling inspired by the decorations all around them, an arts and crafts table is set up in the room, ready with all the things they’ll need to make a little something for the baby, or even to take home with them. Guests will have a great time with a fun activity to let out their creative side.
