Strengthen Your Brain and Have Fun at the Same Time!
Baby showers are meant to celebrate a new baby with the mom-to-be, with guests bringing gifts for the new baby. There is a variety of games from which to choose, but I’m is going to focus on word games here. Take a look at these games and plan a great baby shower!
1 . Baby Word Scrabble
– Pass out papers with the word “BABY SHOWER” printed at the top. Tell the guests to use the letters of this word to come up with as many words as possible. Set a time limit of about 3 minutes. The guest who has the most words wins a prize.
2. Baby Word Unscramble Game
Provide guests with a list of 10-15 scrambled words. Print more papers than what you think you might need, just in case. Every guest gets a paper and they have 5 minutes to unscramble the words. The guest who unscrambled the most words correctly is the winner. You can give prizes for second and third place winners if you wish. The words can be themed on something fun, like things to do with the mom-to-be.
3. How well do you know Mommy
Give each guest a piece of paper and a pencil. The object of this word game is to answer questions about the mom-to-be. How much do you know about her? There will be questions like:
What is her favorite color?
What does she like to do in her free time?
What is her favorite time of year?
What is her favorite food?
What might be her favorite vacation spot?
4. ABC Baby Name
The ABC game requires guest to think of a baby’s name that starts with the specific letter of the alphabet. The guests read off their names, and try to guess which name the mom-to-be might choose for her baby. This is a fun game that will bring a lot of laughs.
A i s for Adam
B is for Bradley
C is for Charlie
5. Nursery Rhyme Quiz
In the Name the Nursery Rhyme game, guests will receive a piece of paper with lines from nursery rhymes printed on them. Next to each line, the guest must write down the nursery rhyme that a certain line belongs to and guests read their answers. The guest with the most correct answers is the winner.
6. Baby Word Search
Baby shower word search games can be printed from the Internet. This game has words related to babies in the word search grid. The object of the game is to find as many words possible in an allotted time period. The person who finds the most words wins. You might want to consider a special prize to the one who successfully finds all of the words on the list.
These are just a few of the baby shower ideas for word games you can play. Not only are the games fun, they also make you use critical thinking skills. If you combine one or more of these games with other types of games, you will be on your way to a very successful baby shower.
